About LVHS

Welcome to Locust Valley High School, a student-centered school that stresses excellence in an environment of high expectations and high support. Our size is ideal with fewer than 700 students allowing individuals to be well known and appropriately recognized for their unique and special talent. Our gracious and expansive surroundings provide a clean, safe and attractive environment for students. Above all, Locust Valley High School is an academic institution that challenges students to reach their highest level.

Students at Locust Valley High School are encouraged to participate in our wide array of college-level courses and research programs, as well as study our numerous elective offerings. Outside of the classroom, students enjoy a broad array of co-curricular and extra-curricular options. Our journalism program and school newspaper are recognized perennially as among the finest in the State of New York. Locust Valley's music program is highly rated, with one-third of the student population enrolled and numerous students receiving All State recognition. The majority of our students participate in extracurricular activities; and despite our relatively small size, Locust Valley fields teams in fifteen varsity sports.

We welcome your interest in our school and encourage you to contact us by e-mail or telephone if you have further questions.

Tenure Recipients Honored for Excellence

The Board of Education granted tenure to eight faculty members on June 6. These individuals were recognized at a reception during which administrators described how each of them had proven that they were making a difference in the Locust Valley Central District.

Each tenure recipient spent years proving that they are worthy of becoming a permanent part of the LVCSD family. Their supervisors observed their professional practices over the years, ensuring that they performed their jobs in a manner that was considered superior. Their skills, relationships with others and willingness to learn were all factors that were considered when reviewing each candidate for their tenure appointment.

Acting Superintendent Dr. Carl Bonuso congratulated the honorees on this important milestone in their careers.

Congratulations to Jamie Cherkis, Locust Valley Middle School/High School Mathematics Teacher; Kimberly Derenthal, Ann MacArthur Primary School Teacher; Jaime DiRossi, Locust Valley Middle School/High School Science Teacher; Kristin Hordy, Locust Valley Elementary Schools Physical Education Teacher; Brian Kollar, Locust Valley Middle School Science Teacher; Toni Meliambro, Locust Valley Central School District Assistant Superintendent for Business Affairs and Human Resources; Alexander Moir, Locust Valley High School Foreign Language Teacher; and Michelle Villa, Locust Valley High School Assistant Principal.
